Banks To
Reimburse Victims of Internet Fraud
The Sala Primera de la Corte Suprema de
Justicia has come to the rescue of all those
bank customers who saw they bank accounts
ransacked by electronic fraud artists.
The court said that the banks have to
reimburse their customers, in full,
rejecting appeals of lawyers acting on
behalf of the banks.
The court said it found that the internet
banking services offered by the banks has
problems, not providing sufficient security
for customers, allowing third parties to
access accounts fraudelenlty.
According to the Sala Primera, the internet
banking activity provided by the banks
provided a high risk for customers.
