Costa Rica Youth Get
Environmental Training
More than 50 young people Costa
Rica and Nova Scotia will start
training at the Acadia
University Tuesday for
work on environmental projects.
The members of the Nova Scotia
Youth Conservation Corps and the
Environmental Leadership Program
will spend three days at Acadia
learning about such things as
occupational health and safety,
emergency first aid and safe
lifting practices. They will
also share ideas, experiences
and opinions about environmental
issues.
The Environmental Leadership
Program is a four-month exchange
for young people aged 19 to 24
from Nova Scotia and Costa Rica.
Under the program, Nova Scotians
have worked on projects in Costa
Rica while staying with Costa
Rican families. The Costa Ricans
returned with their Nova Scotia
partners.
The group will be working in
Port Hood, Halifax, Antigonish
and Sackville. Projects include
environmental education,
recycling programs and improving
water quality.
