Investment Attraction
Costa Rica performed very well
in attracting investment, but
after an initial success has
worked little toward that goal,
two international experts
warned.
Colombian Martin Ibarra,
chairman of the Committee of
Free Zones of the Americas, and
Puerto Rican Maria Isabel
Romero, director of Industrial
Development of Puerto Rico,
explained that Costa Rica is
still on time to renew that
effort and to create the
domestic conditions to take
again its regional leadership in
that area.
The Investment
Director of the Ministry of
Foreign Trade, Rafael Ramirez,
said that there are steps
towards a change in that trend,
among them passing from
criticism and complaints to an
effort to attract more capital
and businesses from abroad as a
national policy.
