IMF: "Economic
Recovery In Costa Rica Is Firmly Underway"
A staff team from the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) visited Costa Rica during April
7–13, 2010 to conduct the third and final
review of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA)
approved in April 2009. The mission met with
Finance Minister Jenny Phillips, Central
Bank Governor Francisco de Paula Gutiérrez,
other senior officials, and representatives
of the financial sector.
Rodríguez Trial
Hits Snag On
First Day
The trial of
Miguel Angel Rodríguez and eight others in
the case known as ICE-Alcatel hit a snag on
the first day of hearing., as the court
suspended hearings until Friday to allow
defence attorneys to review the deal
agreement between the state's key witness,
José Antonio Lobo and the Fiscalía.

Laura Chinchilla, said on Monday that her
government will be intervening the
operations of Correos Costa Rica (Post
Office), the Instituto Nacional de Vivienda
y Urbanismo (INVU) and the Consejo Nacional
de la Producción (CNP) due their poor
economic situation as result of poor
management.

way of its website, Australia tells its
nationals to "exercise a high degree of

risk of serious crime."
