Silver Coins Can Now Only Be Exchanged At Central Bank
If breaking out the piggy bank this holiday week has left you with the ˘5, ˘10 and ˘20 silver coins, also known as "plateadas", you will now need to pay a visit to the Central Bank in downtown San José to exchange them, as the coins are no longer legal tender and banks had to stop accepting them as of March 31.
