Highways To The Pacific
Beaches Totally Collapsed On Thursday
Let's load up the family jalopy and head for
the beach. That was the sentiment of many
who, in the early hours of Thursday morning,
began their trek on the new San José -
Caldera highway, taking advantage of the
remainder of the Semana Santa holiday.

Drivers More Responsible On
The Roads;11 Less Deaths
The intensified police presence and the new
Ley de Tránsito is paying off, such that the
director of the Policía de Tránsito (traffic
police), German Marín, reports 11 deaths
less this Semana Santa as compared to the
same period during last year.

It was 2:50pm when an earthquake registering
5.2 on the Richter scale hit Costa Rica,
which was reported felt throughout the
country.

New Immigration Law Fills Guanacaste Child
Welfare Agency Shelters
The new
immigration law that went into effect on
March 1, 2010, has created a serious problem
for the child welfare agency, the Patronato
Nacional de la Infancia (PANI), in
Guanacaste, as the custom of Nicaraguans
with children born in Costa Rica attempt to
take out the minors with the legal papers
and/or the consent of one of the parents.
