The heavy rain and tropical storms are keeping
the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) -
National Emergency Commission - very busy as
they attend to communities in the Central
Valley, the southern Pacific and the southern
Caribbean.
Within minutes
of the beginning
of the downpour,
the main road in
Barreal de
Heredia, behind
Mall Cariari,
was completed
flooded. Poor or
non existing
storm drains,
ditches and
creeks filled
with garbage,
all contribute
to the problem
that is common
in a lot of
communities
around the
country. |
Most Dog Attacks Happen in
The Home
A study
by the Hospital Nacional de Niños during the
past five years shows that 70% of the children
under the age of 12 attended for dog attacks,
70% of them were bitten by a dog in the home,
home of family and friends and by dogs known to
the victim.
Drug Trafficking On the
Rise
According to the vice-ministro de Seguridad
Púlica (Public Secyrity), Rafael Angel Gutierrez
, the number of drug traffickers near the
schools of the capital is rising faster and
faster.

García Flamenco school in San José yesterday was
the centre for foreigners taking their required
exam to obtain citizenship. The exam tests
knowledge on Costa Rican idiosyncracies and
language.

A bomb
blasted on Friday in a lottery and stake
business in downtown area of Armenia city in
