New U.S. Ambassador and
President Pacheco Meet
The new U.S. Ambassador to Costa
Rica, Mark Langdale, told to
president Abel Pacheco, he hopes
that Costa Rica will soon join
the Tratado Libre de Comercio
(TLC) - the free trade agreement
with the United States - along
with other Central American
countries and the Dominican
Republic, which have all
ratified the agreement.
Constitutional Court Orders
Hacienda To Hand Over "All" the
Money to CONAVI
The Constitutional Court decided
yesterday that the Ministerio de
Hacienda (Revenue Ministry) must
had over all the monies that it
collects with respect to roads
to the Consejo Nacional de
Vialidad (CONAVI), failing
which, the Financial Minister
can face from three month to two
years jail time.
