| The
heaviest rains of the year fell yesterday,
according to the Instituto Meteorolo'gico Nacional
(IMN). The provinces of San José, Alajuela, Limon
and Guanacaste were the most affected. In
the last three days, the precipitations reached
more than 80 milliliters on the surface.
The
heavy showers, typical of the season - which
extends from May to November are accentuated by
two atmospheric phenomena: a system of low
pressure and a cyclonal circle, and for that
reason extraordinary rains will continue for some
more days.
According
to the Costa Rican National Meteorological
institute, 15 to 20 percent more rain is expected
in 2003 than in 2002. [Foto:
