Educators Do Not Believe Promises of Minister

At the personnel department in the Minsterio de Educacion Publica (MEP) you can see the the anguish and desperation of teachers who leave their classrooms to get in line to get an explanation why they are not being paid.

The MEP believed it had found the solution to their problems, however, the system failed again and applied reductions in the pay of more than 10.000 teachers, some of which got no pay at all. Education Minister Astrid Fischel recognizes the error and assures that she is trying to solve them. >More

Killer tornadoes in central US
Killer tornadoes took more than 20 lives and injured dozens of others in a trail of destruction across parts of the central United States yesterday.

"It's devastating," said Michael Spencer, a Red Cross worker in Pierce City, Missouri. Commercial buildings around the town square were hard hit and "there are homes behind them that are just flattened," he said.

Rescue workers climbed around the ruins of a National Guard armory in Pierce City where some residents had fled seeking shelter. The roof of the building had collapsed. >More

The transaction, to be completed today, will make Mexico's Coca-Cola Femsa SA the world's No. 2 bottler of Coke through the purchase of Miami-based Panamerican Beverages Inc.
