Speculation based off of historical analysis of how public funds are often swiped. For 2+ million, they could have sent them back by plane. But that would be a more difficult way to scrape funds. Under the guise of humaniarian and healthcare needs, those funds can be more easily misdirected, especially at the holiday time. I would love to see an independant audit.

They have spent $50,000 tops, CR is all lies and lies and they probably asked US and Europe for millions for the Cubans and kept all the money and take all the glory. CR government is doing business with the cartels plenty of money laundering money going around.

i don’t have any clue but it doesn’t seem to be an obvious thing.
What is weird to me is that they have not repatriated them for that price. Maybe they are considered refugees because of american law…

It is a very different problem in Costa Rica where unions have too much power. That is a very different scenario than the United States where unions have been decimated. That is a very important aspect to understand. The pendulum can swing too far in either direction. Any political or economic system can become corrupted, history shows us that very clearly. And you are not being objective if you think any differently.

Reminds me of the Mariel boat lift. They got rid of the prisoners and nutbuckets who were the scum of Cuba. All at the cost to the good ole USA.

I would be willing to bet only a small percentage of that 2 million actually went to helping the Cubans. Most likely the majority was lost to graft. Let’s see and hear about an audit? Why do you think the Central Banker just got kidnapped out of his car and murdered? He obviously got too close to somebody during one of his audits. Until Costa Rica gets serious and starts taking down the organized crime syndicates within their own government, things will only continue to get worse. The local media is complicit.
