The ARESEP routinely denies price increases. Moreover anyone can attend the hearings.

Very good points indeed…. but actually due to the time it takes the carbon dioxide to be reabsorbed trough new plant material, if there is ever a net replacement value, means there is always more CO2 in the atmosphere than what was in the plant material in the first place and is not entirely carbon neutral. then again, i am just being a dick. You are entirely correct (enjoy it, it wont happen often) Propane is entirely CO2 negative but much better than gas, diesel or coal. Cheers!

Just on a side note, using wood as a fuel is actually carbon neutral because whether it rots or is burned, either way the carbon in it is converted into CO2. The issue with using wood is that it doesn’t burn as cleanly and the potential for causing deforestation.

There is a consumer protection agency, but it is also a public (government) agency (it is known as MEIC) and in general it only intervenes in private enterprise, not public services and utilities. The pricing of gasoline, diesel, LPG/propane, bunker, etc. is the exclusive domain of ARESEP with very few exceptions (which literally require an act of Congress/the Legislative Assembly).

It would be quite a basic idea that propane should be subsidized as should the first 50Kw/h of electrical consumption.
it would contribute to lowering greenhouse gases as people would burn less wood (everyone uses BS arguments like that, ok?)
These excessively high energy costs is something that is unfair to struggling families and the poor in general and also small business.
The names of individuals and their affiliations, who are working to bring these austere measures should be publicized and used in a political way as much as possible.
Come election time, the lever should be pulled. Is there a consumer protection organization?
The food industry lobby has to be the one to make the case?

So you ask a high rate in the 70% tile then hope for a lower rate in the 30% tile. Seems like they are paying some top executives A HUGE SALARY. Like been said 100% of the tanks are defective.

Here we go again.Anytime there is a drop in price of a commodity,the government wants to step in and put a higher tax on it. In the U.S. they are talking about raising the tax price of gasoline $1.00per gallon.

Oh, and that doesn’t count an extra 2,000 colones per cylinder that consumers will have to start paying in January. That is already a done deal, as the government is removing a transportation subsidy for the cylinders. (I apologize we failed to report on that).
