If Public Sector wages and benefits are not rolled-back, the dollar-colon exchange rate made realistic, and taxes and the cost of doing business reduced to foster more foreign investment and tourism, the Costa Rica Economy will probably have to be managed externally by the IMF in the not too distant future, the same as has happened in Greece. If not, I can see a full scale Revolution looming between the Public and Private Sector.

In my personal experience, Ticos tend to be a lot of talk with little action. Not saying it couldn’t happen. Just wouldn’t always take something like that too serious.

costa rica = ICE = uncontrolled crime, high murder rates, narco state……. just wait until the police salaries don’t arrive…….. it will be a total breakdown of society … if you an expat you and your family will be the first victims of the mob mentality ……..a country where there are no property rights in normal times .. a country where you can be prosecuted as many times as the courts decide … no one is accountable..and everyone and everything is for sale…….just look at the sex trade.. they cant ban prostitutes because they need the tourists….it is a government of convience, a country that promotes the environment and in reality is an open sewer. Garbage in every corner … my Muni dumps in the river!!
They change laws like I change under ware… no intelligent investor will look at costa rica because they are told one thing when they invest and i rules change before the ink dries…there are hundreds of horror stories.
I wish I could recover my investments …

What a perfect opportunity to dispense with the overpaid dead weight and bring in new people to replace them at a lower cost.
The timing is right for Solis to issue an ultimatum of continue and keep your overpriced mouth shut or be replaced.
A very good way to reduce the deficit.

Considering that ICE and the entire government is largely operating on externally supplied and borrowed capital, I’d be very careful if I were in control of the union. That capital will flee in a heartbeat if there is evidence of impending political upheaval – it may have already started. If it does, who will be left to pay their bloated salaries and over-generous benefits? The “old-money” Costa Ricans? No, their money was off-shored years ago. The Gringos? Well a small amount might be wrung out of them but they can and will leave too. Maybe Nicaragua will do it? Maybe Venezuela? Maybe??

This just show you , that the Unions are little more than the Mafia, the top 10% should be jailed, fined, sent to hard labor for life. The rest should have there pay and benefits cut by 50 % the Same for the Politicians.
