Tourists are easy pickings plus they likely provide a richer bounty and in the slim chance the crook is caught the victim won’t be around to testify.

Tourists and foreigners are easy prey plus the fact they arrive in Costa Rica under the impression that the country is a peaceful haven due to the fact that it has has no army; well there may be no soldiers but crooks and robbers certainly abound.

Blame the VICTIM. It’s not the culture of foreigners that’s the problem — look to your own.

Nonsense. While “carelessness” is probably a factor in most crimes against foreigners, there is no reason to believe that it is more of a factor now than it was. The issue is the uptick in these crimes.
