A good first step. However longline shark finning boats still operate with little or no enforcement around Cocos Island. To me this is just another example of the farcical nature of ‘eco tourism’ that Costa Rica exports. There are shark finning boats at Cocos Island EVERY DAY and somehow, despite the $35/day park fee, the $500 film fee…the park has little or no resources to combat shark finning.
