United Fruit Company was a slave company they killed thousands of workers using Chemicals that where banned in Canada and Europe. Dole and Chiquita did the same. These US corp treated latin america like slaves.

Costa Rica uses the most pesticides on it’s fruits and vegetables than any other country in the world. Enjoy the contamination and stomach cancer folks.

This has been going on forever. The banana companies were sued and they lost but never paid out a penny or helped any of those effected. What they did was set up a clinic in SJ which is extremely hard to contact considering they never answer their phone. Their exams are very suspicious considering many are done by female doctors. There is never a conclusion then you have to go back next year and do it again. On and On and On with no end in sight. Its all a stall and the banana companies have friends in high places who are helping them avoid any kind of payment. Shame on the government.

I remember how it was back then. Most of the older peons had the shakes really bad from handling the pesticides as if they were water. They would put their hands right in it, mix it without measuring proportions, and spray it without masks, hat, and long sleeves. Costa Rica is one of the very foremost consumers of pesticides per capita, and a considerable portion of the land here has been seriously contaminated and will not restore itself for possibly hundreds of years.
