The car had been borrowed for this outing so the driver did not drive a car on a regular basis. Witnesses also stated that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. All of these factors would indicate the cause of the accident. Jersey barriers may have saved the collision with the innocent truck driver but the blame should be directed to the inexperienced risky driver.

I have been driving for 36 years and have driven in many other countries including the third world country of Afghanistan where there are basically no traffic laws or enforcement and CR drivers are the worst that I have ever encountered. These deaths are tragic but very preventable. This a daily occurrence in this country, usually involving motorcycles, and will continue until safety and accountability becomes a concern.

The Transito director also stressed that it is important for the installation of the New Jersey type barriers on this highway. With them we would decrease the amount of people killed on this road.
