I’m not her or her lawyer, but I wonder why she doesn’t just move to CR under another residency category. “Political asylum” screams “investigate me” to the press. If she’s had the bucks to live in Panama 4.5 years, you’d think she’d have the bucks for CR residency. Just wondering. If I were on the lam, I’d want the lowest profile possible.

This woman has reason to fear for her life, or at least her freedom, back home. She (allegedly) violated the rights of many of the powerful of her countrymen, and of journalists. As someone who has (allegedly) trampled the civil rights of her fellow Colombians, she should be wanted by the Colombian government, in which case Costa Rica should be quick to honor an extradition request if she comes here.

Political asylum for Colombians is easy to get here in CR. All they have to do is give immigracion some cockamanie story about how they fear for their lives back home. Citizens from Spain can fly in and automatically get their citizenship while everyone else have to swim upstream to attain it. We love the motherland so much we still bend over backwards and take it in the rear when you tell us you are a Spaniard. Im not worthy im not worthy. .
