Having a stronger showing in the World Cup might help improve that. Since Concacaf plays against Concacaf more than any other division an increase in that percentage would earn the winners more points.

I lived in Costa Rica for 12 years and considered Costa Rica my home team. I figured if I was electing to live there that I owed them the support. That also caused an unwarranted prejudice against Mexico. Now that I’m back in the US my primary support has changed but any win by a Concacaf team is a win.

Costa Rica’s strong win is an indication that either the CR is seriously underrated or that Uruguay is way overrated, as was Spain. We’ll see how that plays out in the second round of Group D.
