If Costa Rica is truly in the forefront of environmentalism (as they claim to be), they will banish this practice in their waters by keeping their coast guard on high alert and they will bring any perpetrators to swift justice with some very stiff penalties, – how about life in prison to think about your trangression?

Two and a half years to go to trial? Justice has already suffered a miscarriage. Meanwhile a million more sharks have been finned. This practice of finning sharks must be made completely illegal. These animals, which serve an important role in the balance of aquatic life, are headed quickly to the brink of extinction.
