My Mom is retired near San Jose and likes it, warts and all, but soon, when I head that way, Panama seems to be a better bet. I have visited there and felt very much at home with the people. Costa Rica is fine towards the South but I always felt I had to be on guard of myself and my property.

These stories seem to be getting more common every day – lack of responsibility is rampant – “no es me culpa”
I have a couple of stories of my own where the judge has dismissed obviously criminal behavior – ie- developers collecting millions, selling land they didn’t own and being let off by the court for “lack of evidence”. I no longer have faith in the Costa Rica justice system – I think it is rigged just to make money for lawyers and thieves.
