Another bridge collapse? After 7 yrs living in C/R, there seems to have been many. Serious issues with bridges, roads, giant pot holes, etc. And to mention, there are many bridges in the country, and some were very scary looking. Just before I left last year, one bridge in Alajuela with a mobile crane truck crossing it collapsed. Anyone know if it has been repaired yet?

This is a BIG problem. There are no other bridges crossing the river, heading to the coast or up the mountain. Local traffic that typically heads west to Guacimo and Guapiles, or east to Pocora and Siquirres is cut off. Traffic from the eastern end of the province to San Jose has to use Route 10 which typically isn’t too bad, but it will now crawl to a snails pace as semi snake around the curves.

One would assume that this bridge would be fixed quickly… but this is Costa Rica and bridge making skills here are seriously lacking.

Also someone at Inside Costa Rica needs to learn some geography. Part of the province of Limon is still accessible by Route 32 – Pococi (Guapiles) and the western end of Guacimo to Rio Parismina. The only way into the whole province is not through Turrialba (Route 10). Route 10 is simple the best route to the large part of the province east of Rio Parismina. There are a few other roads into parts of Limon from other parts but driving them with anything other than a 4×4 is crazy.

This is going to be a major problem this is a long bridge I driven over it so many times. This also affects the buses and Semi drivers. The port of Moin everything that comes in and out depended on this bridge and others. The road from Squirres to Turrialba sections are narrow and it curves along the upper river. So what another bailey bridge. Seems like all the bridges are hanging on by hope and pray these days.
