Prison isn’t a particularly effective way to combat crime, and relying on it is usually a sign that the battle against crime is already lost, so I’m open to new hybrid ideas. It also seems to me that any convict who stays out of trouble for six days and voluntarily returns to the prison is a good candidate to ease out of the system and reintegrate into society. Doing a program like this probably wouldn’t save any money, since the program done right would cost, but it might be worth considering.

Now vacation planning up to 36 days a year?? Let me understand this they do violent crime only a few caught and sentence and leave unsupervised to 6 days?? I wonder how many will even report back. What a broken system..

This smells like someone is cooking up a dish of ‘pobrecitos.’

Also, these vacations could ease pressure in the currently over crowded prisons…… easing pressure to build another prison, perhaps?
It has nothing to do with rehabilitation and everything to do with money.
