This is “communist” China? Really? The PRC is about as communist – economically – as the Vatican is Jewish. What a heap of absolute nonsense. Allow me to remind you who opened up the path to this country. In 1970, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger asked Pakistan to open up a means of communications with the People’s Republic of China. This resulted in a first ever visit at Beijing by a US table tennis team (ping pong diplomacy). In 1972 it was President Richard Nixon (?!) who paid a surprise visit to Chairman Mao. The PRC had just gotten out of the Cultural Revolution, a orgy of anti-Confucian destruction and abuse of the elite of China. Nixon’s visit culminated in the US abandoning an old ally – the Republic of China (Taiwan) – in favor of the PRC. The PRC then took over the fifth permanent seat in the UN Security Council. And you’re blaming Costa Rica for opening up the doors to China in the 21st century?

“Keys to San Jose”? What a joke! Shows how little petty minds think their offering is such a big deal when to the Chinese, as they smile graciously at the gesture, are laughing their heads off to their comrades over such a silly honor. Now, offer them the sovereignty of Costa Rica and that might mean a smidgen to powerful China. Or wait long enough and they’ll take it anyway. Bad thing; good thing? Time will tell.

I agree with you. They most likely already hacked into CR banking system.. Communist China are hacking Canada, Great Britain, India and USA stealing technology.. Communists =sleaze and control of the “”people”".

What is happening to countries that are not debt entangled as heavily as the USA or Greece is that these visiting “leaders”are lending huge amounts of money to them. Then the citizens become slaves to the loans and can never be free again. Sad that it is now happening here in CR. Citizens resist this like you do with Monsanto and mining companies! Save Costa Rica.

I am not fooled! This is Communist China.. Jail protester, journalist, kill their own at Tienanmen square, .. I still see them as wolves now in sheep clothing advancing Costa Rica $900 million. Somethings do not add up. China always thinks way into the future. Tico’s are like lambs to the slaughter.
