This is what should be the law ! Any Congressman or Appointed official using the Govt credit card for buy family or friend gasoline, and or misusing Govt cars. There Foto shoud be on the front pages of the Papers, they should get 10 lashes, 2yrs hard labor, 10,000 dollar fine. and there families banned from driving for 10yrs.I hope the good people of Costa rica are tired of the criminals in there govermnet and are ready to do something!

On more note. Have you been to a Public Hospital in Costa Rica lately? The money that is being wasted in Government could be invested in the PEOPLE & the HOSPITALS for starters.

Perhaps Fernando Mendoza and his Legislature should focus on ending the waste, fraud, and abuse of Government assets (fuel and expenses) first, then worry about who blew the whistle and how, later. It is unacceptable that the first response of the accused is to deflect responsibility to a violation of their privacy. That is like saying, “we have a right of commit fraud, if we can do so without anyone knowing about it”.

As a Fraud Investigator with over 30 years of experience I can only hand out one piece of advice. Publicly acknowledge the problem, take responsibility for the abuse, disclose your intentions to take immediate action to punish offenders and to work to prevent further violations in the future. This demonstrates responsibility, accountability, and LEADERSHIP!

Geez! So the “”people”" pay their salaries and bonus, fuel, lunches, wine, retirement and they complain that this is not public information?? AAH! Costarricenses really like to take care of their Government employees. I think the poor lawmakers( Diputados) need a big raise and a new shiny car for all their hard work. Right Lady Laura??
