That doesn’t really make any sense, Daniel. This is not about exploiting the country’s resources but how Costa Rica sets and abides by its own rules. If you grant a concession, stick to it. It’s a bit like the free trade zones in the Central Valley. Companies are invited to invest in Costa Rica and given preferential conditions, provided they create jobs. Then they are being taxes in contravention of the original agreement. This creates credibility issues, something which any serious investor abhors.

I have no idea why foreigners want to invest in Costa Rica. You can’t do anything without paying people off. And on top of that many unscrupulous local steal your money

And your President still drives a gas-guzzling luxury vehicle with petrol supplied by Alaska, Iraq, or Nicaragua (or wherever). I doubt her mansion in the hills is electrified by clean energy. A biodiversity country, yes; but also hypocrites when it comes down to the nitty-gritty.

5 % of the world’s biodiversity is found in Costa Rica, that is a treasure worth protecting for many in this country. Nonetheless Shell, Chevron and the likes can still go and drill in Alaska, Iraq or in Nicaragua. They will be very welcome there, in fact Daniel Ortega allows strip mining and indiscriminate forest logging.

She could ask but will not Mr. President who was responsible for the Ambassador death in Benghazi?? Have you captured those responsible as well?? If not why?/ Maybe then she can re assigned there in Libya and take a look for herself. I know this is mean spirited.

Wouldn’t need “foreigners” investing in Costa Rica if nationals put their money where their mouths are or had the initiative to invest. Next thing you’ll be suggesting that Costa Rica’s economy does not benefit from foreign investment and their “dirty” money that creates havoc with the colon. Another Lady Laura who seems intent on closing the door on foreigners.
