To govern is to rule or to control. Isn’t it better to lead? We seem to have an abundance of rulers but few leaders with the morals to set example. As a consequence of the type of “rulers” voted in, society is becoming a cesspool. Cause and effect.

I doubt I’d buy the spiritual implications of this, but tend to agree for practical reasons. It seems to me that legislatures the world over should pass one more law, and that law should say that for every additional law they pass an old law has to be rescinded. Every president and legislature measures their productivity by the number of new laws passed, so the people keep being saddled with more and more laws (and every society becomes more dependent upon lawyers). Well, some laws may be good ideas, but others aren’t and need to be gotten rid of. I say stop the proliferation of laws!

The best way to govern is not to govern. As simple as this may sound, it seems politicos are so full of themselves, they cannot accept the flow of the universe. They insert rules as they determine for the “good of the people” without knowing, as Laozi writes: “the more prohibitions there are, the poorer the people become.” And as the people’s strife ensues, discontent grows.

Laura has done nothing to help the people, she only knows how to increase taxes and increase prices. glad to see the people showing her how they feel, she obvisoly doesn’t get it

Perhaps her association with the last president has some bearing on how folks are now seeing thru the smoke and mirrors. One thing that has really affected things, is the internet, folks are finding out the truth about goings on and not buying the lies that are put out by the some of the politicians. With more and more government business going into computers the more folks are seeing who is lying to who and about what. Hum, now all schools will have internet access which means many folks that don’t have internet access now can “help” their kids study and research things online, I wonder how the politicians allowed this to slip thru????

not my place to comment on Costa Rica’s love hate continuum for their leaders …… however it might be fair to say Ticos are showing more intelligence in this matter than gringos.
