The Latin macho man is basically a selfish coward. He beats his wife and/or children half to death in order to feel like a man after he’s spent most of the family’s money on drink. That’s what you get when the mothers don’t punish the boys when they need a good kick up the rear, father condones bad behaviour because “boys will be boys” and society allows it all to happen.

Let us remember that for every case of physical and visual abuse, there are hundreds innocent children that are victims of mental and emotional abuse. These children are kept silent by threats, and in some cases held hostage by one of the separated parents, but the damage and negative impact on their life is equally unnacceptable. In many cases, the investigators are over tasked and when investigating these reports, miss the subtle clues of this hidden abuse to children. It is up to us, as parents to vigilantly watch EVERYONE around our children, and to protect these innocents from ANYONE that abuses them mentally or emotionally, and in some cases sexually. This can be friends, family members, coworkers, and these people are usually habitual abusers that are mentally ill and may not even know what they are doing is abuse. STAY ALERT, REPORT REPORT REPORT. Be the voice and protector for these silent innocent victims.

Multiply by 10 and the figures become more realistic. It gets better though. When the kid is old enough to unlock a door dear father will take him with him to “work” at night. It’s way more fun than watching Psycho Mom bawl her eyes out at novelas.

With all due respect, this is fake journalism. A picture is not necessary in this instance–we can all imagine a damaged child. It’s like using a ‘stock photo’ of a barren area elsewhere to advance an agenda of global warming here. Or like AlGore trying to buy freak “Fire Tornado” video for the same reason–profit and exploitation. Stay REAL, Mr. Editor/journalist.

Mary, with all due respect we didn’t find it appropriate to cover the story with an image of a child that was “truly” abused. It is a stock/paid image, and indeed photoshopped; but we have to believe our readers would prefer that to a cover image of a “truly” abused child, which in most jurisdictions is also against the law to publish the photo of a child without his/her permission. The image is illustrative in nature, only.

The stats MIGHT be right but the photographic touch-up of the cover photo insults intelligence. Adults who can’t control their violence should be restricted from having children. Try to make that happen in our liberal environment.
