Cristiana Figueres, sister of ex-president Figueres, is the Secretariat of Global Climate Change at the UN, and apparently has made Costa Rica a pilot model in this. Also, the changes in soil composition mentioned in the article refer to the aluminum contained in the chemicals that are being sprayed. The aluminum makes the soil less acid and so definitely will affect coffee plantations.

how dare you! mary, thousands, no millions, of people are employed by grants, do good organizations, commissions, UN sub groups, universities and not a single study or group helps anyone or anything, EXCEPT those employed and those private enterprises sucking up subsidies, grants, credits and other goodies to build useless technology like the Volt that runs on coal electricity, or windmills, solar panels and the most useless of all, morons that recycle. Mary it is attitudes like yours that could end this vital waste! some people simply require forced re-education.

Numbers boggle me: “250 institutions that do work related to the issue of climate change in the region [of Latin America/Caribbean]” — at what cost for those ‘in charge of/employed by/beneficiaries of’ these institutions?; “Annual losses in the region’s agricultural exports… between US$32 billion to US$54 billion by 2050″ — a 38-year forward projection, such insight! how talented they are; “£15 million (US$24.3 million) aid package through 2015 to promote sustainable agriculture in Colombia.” The sky is surely falling and whether man can help to change the direction or not is not going to stop Climate Change. What is the answer? All 285 cities need to sign the Global Cities Covenant on Climate, not just the present 16. We need to centralize control of our lives in matters of governance including all social and economic factors. We cannot be allowed to live our lives freely but herded into sustainable cities for the common good. Stop eating meat and only consume vegetables and rice/beans (how do we do that with a declining interest/availability of land to farm?) And what better way to do all this but turn over our lives to a global community with global governance who will decide things for us. Let’s all embrace Agenda 21 (also known by catchwords as sustainable development, environmental protection because who can oppose such noble causes). Let’s give all our money (directly and indirectly) into the IDB, the IMV, the World Bank and after those at the top of the pyramid go from being billionaires to trillionaires, the rest of us can get the spoils. Sounds like a plan to me!

This is so stupid if there is a climate change it is a natural occurane not man made. Do you really believe Al Gore and the other nut cases. If man did not destroy the climate in WW 11 , then it will never happen.
