Thailand tried that for a week once. you might check out the results. Daniela is saying the loans are a waste because they are used corruptly, you extrapolate from that that a globalized economy is not only a negative but possible to control. she did not say that at all. the only thing a country gains by building walls to keep out the world economy is dumpster diving culture. the world interactive economy is a given, it is not open to debate and should not be controlled by people with agendas other than productivity. to act differently is an auto fail. simply look at what “ethical” agri subsidies to protect north America and Europe have done to Africa and south America. there is nothing ethical or moral about controlling or manipulating trade for political or any other purpose.

I think I see where you’re coming from, Daniela. Costa Rica needs to reduce so called foreign aid and promote it’s own initiatives. Most foreign investment comes at too high a price in the long term and does not make use use of Costa Rica’s potential. Patience is needed – forget the explosion of globalisation and find your own ethical path.
