The atricle said, “The month of October ended with critical levels in the main reservoirs. Arenal reported a 35% decrease in the reservoir level, Cachi was 40% lower, and Angostura saw a 35% decrease.” So they’ve said where it will happen, but that leaves me to wonder who, what, when and why they have put this on the drawing board? We know it doesn’t always work as planned; do they have something “new” to kick it up a notch? hmmm, last ditch effort? They said, “ICE does not rule out the possibility of creating rain using cloud seeding in case the flow to the country’s reservoirs continues to be reduced this summer.”

Costa Rica has done this before with no results…it was critisized then, why are they even considering it? there is got to be another reason for this “cloud seeding”.

The effectiveness of cloud seeding is debatable, there’s evidence for and against it. But the environmental and public health concerns are unfounded. The amounts used and the dispersion area result in such low concentrations that you can’t reliably measure a rise in ambient silver or iodine levels in the environment. It may very well be a waste of money, but please don’t go making people believe this is going to get them sick, unless you can point to some sort of research that supports that claim.
Too many people without a firm grasp of basic science tend voice their beliefs about scientific matters in public. I don’t ask you to believe me, find someone you know to be knowledgeable in science and ask them.

i know they are still having water retrictions in Vegas…but very limited in ABQ and other areas

They spend lots of money cloud seeding in New Mexico, to no avail. Water conservation programs would be more beneficial.

I first heard about this technique sometime in the mid 50′s, and have never heard of a success to this date. Better to find alternate sources of energy as those are well known and proven.
