I really dislike people who want to legislate “outing” free enterprise. If you want to dissuade friends not to use porteadores and choose not to use them yourself–I have no objection. You guys want to CONTROL CONTROL CONTROL. That is offensive. In the free market, people get to choose and if the porteadores have no customers, they will cease to exist. To quote: “As simple as that.”

I don’t “do” porteadores. This is complete nonsense and an invention of Otto Guevara, head of the Movimiento Libertario, who virtually owns the porteadores sector. Costa Rica has official taxis with licenses and taxi meters. I never use these informal porteadores and don’t recommend them to friends or clients. They need to be outlawed. As simple as that.

Let’s hope their strike lasts into perpetuity. I’m still not following why any clown with a car demands rights to charge fares. Give me one with a maria or forget it.
