Comments on: Drivers with B1 license could drive motorcycles according to new traffic law

There are so many varying interpretations of this. Can someone with experience in adding a motorbike license to their current drivers license please confirm the procedures?
I have a valid CR drivers license and cedula. Do I need to take the tests for a 125cc or not? Can I ride on secondary roads or any road with my regular drivers license or not? So confusing.

Can’t see the automatic assumption that the large numbers of moto cyclists killed has anything to do with this licensing issue. Those killed I presume, had the appropriate license.. what info is there to determine the percentage of those fatalities caused by car drivers negligence? How is this issue going to change moto cyclists fatality rates? I think the legislation as written makes sense. I have a CR driver license and occasionally drive a moto.. I don’t understand why more tramites and reglamentos are called for.

My understanding was that this (odd) change was put in place to help rental/tour agencies in tourist areas. Most foreigners lack a motorcycle licence but the tour operators need to keep out of trouble (insurance issues I assume as well) and stay in business. I’m betting this gets modified somehow.
