What a joke – tourists that get a traffic citation in Costa Rica can’t leave the country (at the airport anyway) until they pay a fine. This dude gets out of the country? They should have also given him a speeding ticket to keep him in Costa Rica.

Look at it this way: we saved a bundle bringing him to trial where he ultimately, after costly-to-the-State appeals, gets off due to lack of evidence or takes up valuable space in our prison where instead we incarcerate men who fail to make payments to support their family. Not that I’m in favor of deadbeat dads but priorities are out of whack here.
