This happened to me before as well. In San Jose, leaving the mall before I even get in the cab they ask where I am going, then think about it for a second and tell me a price which is double what it should cost to get there. And of course all of the drivers are standing outside together so you either pay that amount or you walk. Of course is was late maybe midnight and I was feeling unwell so of course I had to pay. I was so angry.

sorry, but show me that government. less govt does not mean no govt but be honest, nowhere are people healthy, wealthy, educated, safe and wise because of government. people who want “change” but really mean new and better and stronger law are suckers. all they get is an animal farm with you wanting to be one of the pigs.

I go to Costa Rica three times a year It happy at all the bus stations. Every time I go. Get off the bus from limon. And take a 1000 colon ride and end up paying 5000. Cabs at the stations do it all the time I have been coming there for 8 years

Don’t know where you get this info Al, but I’ve never heard of this.. ‘pongo la maria’ is the thing to say.. and get out of the cab if there is no ‘maria’. If a ‘pirata’.. and you don’t speak Spanish.. pass him up.. the only dishonest cabbies I’ve found were in San Diego (that’s in California.)

This is what happens once the masses figure out that the government is weak. It started with the motorcycle protest when INS raised insurance rate because they cause most of the accidents either directly or indirectly. This is just getting started. I am waiting for the protest to get the streets fixed in San Pedro and maybe some sewage system installed.
