Yeah, CR has a serious problem as far as tourism goes. They’re becoming know as a destination that will bleed the tourist at every corner. I hope for a great tourist season, but I think the long term trend is that countries like Nicaragua are going to take a lot of tourists away from here. The high prices might even be justifiable if the service here were better, but on average your paying high end prices for average food, accommodations and service. If CR doesn’t realize that the goal has to be leaving tourists with the desire to return, the well will run dry.

I have been coming to CR for over 15 years…made probably 40 trips….but…will not be returning because of the increased costs of food, lodging, etc. I can vacation in similar countries with better security, roads at a much lower cost. Sorry CR…..your screwing it up with the high taxes.

We will see. This is an expensive place to vacation! I live here and love this place, however inflation, taxes and the manipulation of the currency has taken a toll. At the current price point there are a number of other options for a similar vacation. I will root for a strong high season!
