There a two considerations to the Democrats controlling the Senate: (1) It now takes 60 votes to pass almost anything in the Senate, (2) Democrats hardly ever march lock-step anything. They are much more unruly with their leadership than their Republican counter-parts. The very divisive partisanship being displayed by both parties is very damaging to the country, in my opinion.

James, you speak about needed change to the “USA economy, banking, conusmer protection, women’s rights, same sex marriage, gay civil rights, foreign policy and the future of America!”
President Obama and the democrats controlled the senate, house and the white house the first 2 years of his presidency. They could have passed anything thye wanted (they could have made the second tuesday of every month bring your dog to work day and require the dog be paid). YET HE DID NOTHING! Obama had to bribe his own party to get Obama care passed (Louisanna and Nebraska senators).
