When the right hand of the government doesn’t know what the left is saying, it makes our jobs quite difficult. We *had* to publish this story as a follow up to the story the day before it, not necessarily out of newsworthiness; but because the statements conflicted; and when that happens good journalism demands that you re-report it, no matter how tired the story is getting.

As far as I am concerned, it is an absolute non-story. Besides, it’s nothing but a rehash of what the Spanish-language press in Costa Rica has published days ago. Newsworthiness? Zilch.

Furthermore, I have no patience with people accusing the White House of publishing “conflicting” reports. What does a Mary Hogan know about what happened in Bengazi, anyway? It’s tragic enough the US lost a first-rate ambassador. Mary is probably following developments closely on Fox News on a minute by minute basis. No wonder she’s confused.
