I guess that looking in Costa Rica in such detailed way… Why don’t u look at the US as in how many students died last year because of School shootings… Robberies in neighborhoods

Mickey, my wife and I were both permitted to carry concealed in the state of Texas when we lived there and also in N.C. when we lived there. We are also permitted to carry concealed here in Costa Rica. The process here in Costa Rica is really not that much more difficult although it is more time consuming to have to visit several different agencies and sometimes more than once. I am not certain that making it easier is best. Afterall there needs to be excellent training, (and regular practice afterwards), as well as a very good background check, a good psychological test and the proving of ones ability to handle a firearm. It is not a right to own a firearm in Costa Rica like in the U.S. and is not guaranteed by the constitution here. Don’t take me wrong please I firmly believe that it should be a right of every person and that I should not have to register my guns but I do believe that there needs to be some qualifications for owning and carrying a firearm.
Stiff penalties for violation should exist and this is true for all crimes, (I am not talking traffic fines here) although these are pretty nonexisitent here in Costa Rica.

The Goverment should make it easier for a Citizen to have traiining and own a pistol. This would reduce crime and the need for so many police.

I am told, that a crime committed , involving less than 400 USD, is not considered a crime in Costa Rica. With laws like that what do you expect,

How many of these robbers are caught then released by the judges here. Some robbers have rap sheets with 30 or more incidences. They need to be locked up the first time. They have no fear going to prison here. Crime will continue to increase.
