UCCR finances presidential hopes of  José  Miguel Villalobos? Part of the strategy?

This morning's article in La Nacion (Friday 04 April 03) (http://www.nacion.com/ln_ee/2003/abril/04/pais11.html) gives a possible clue to the strategy on the UCCR and the hiring of JMV. Or, is the UCCR being led up the proverbial creek without a paddle?

According to the article in La Nacion, it was he, José Miguel Villalobos who contacted the paper to announce that he is forming a new party and to run as a presidential candidate in the 2006 presidential elections.

Many still blame the government for all the problems associated with the failed Enrique Villalobos (the Brothers) investment operations. And many still praise Enrique and hope and pray for a positive outcome.

A couple of months back we attended a meeting of the UCCR, where José Miguel Villalobos was introduced to the investors in attendance and a plan to raise the capital to hire José Miguel Villalobos was outlined.

Since then, the UCCR was not able to raise the first $100.000, however, José Miguel Villalobos elected to start work on the case with the $61.000 raised and on the hopes that the rest would come in due time.

He has been spending the last couple of weeks -  by his own admission to La Nacion -  touring the various parts of the country listening to it's citizens. Uh?

If José Miguel Villalobos wins the election and does become president, well, he now will have the power to undo all the wrong the government is being accused of doing. He, in effect, will be the head of the government and will have the power to undo what the present government had the power to do.

But will he?  Will he even want to be associated with the UCCR? or anyone who is/was an investor with "the Brothers" for that matter? Or, by that time - some three years from now - it will it really matter?
