Sunday 09 March 2003

I had a very successful tour for February. One single gentleman from Canada and a great couple from Florida.

First of all, I must point out, most of my tour inquiries and guests have been from California, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, and Canada. I can understand the reasons for wanting to escape Canada, but am really amazed that so many people want to leave states that are generally considered retirement states.

Getting back to the tour, the guests really paid attention to the many climates and lifestyles we experienced. There were several highlights. The first was discovering a new restaurant in Santa Ana. It is called the Black Bull and is on the East side of Santa Ana on the road to Escazu. We tried the steak, Corvina and chicken. All were excellent. It is a very nice open air ambiance.

Next, we had another excellent meal at the Alta Vista Restaurant and Lodge 6000 feet above San Jose near Tarbaca. The day and night views are awesome, the service is above even Costa Rica standards, and the prices are reasonable.

We found another treasure in Orosi. The Restaurant and Hotel Media Libra. This place has an amazing selection of dishes and at local Tico prices. But, best of all the General Manager represents local land owners willing to sell their land for housing usage. We visited several beautiful areas with prices that are reasonable. Then we visited a 7 acre place on top of a point at about 4,000 feet with a view all the way up the lake and up the Orosi River Valley. The asking price was really a value and the couple from Florida, who had no intentions of buying anything on this trip, made and offer to buy. The widow land owner has accepted their offer and now if all of the papers are in order, they will be proud landowners in Costa Rica. They are already dreaming of how to develop the land to maximize their views and sell some lots to get their money back.

The gentleman from Canada was also successful in his visit. He narrowed his areas of interest down to Atenas and Grecia. He is a devoted sailor and wanted to be as close to the Pacific as possible and yet be convenient to San Jose.

I hope all of my future tours can be as successful as this one.

Pura Vida,
