Gives Hot Tourist Destinations
Online Representation
Playas del Coco – Guanacaste -
Costa Rica’s fast growing and
popular north Pacific coast now
has better representation in the
booming online travel industry
thanks to Papagayoinfo.net, a
market research and statistics
source, estimates 41.3 million
US households will book travel
online in 2007; and now Playas
del Coco, Playa Hermosa, Playa
Ocotal, and Playa Panama have
better representation in this
market.
Although the site will not
actually book reservations
online, it acts as an
information hub connecting
Internet users directly to local
hotels, tour operators, and
other businesses in the area. It
also provides detailed
information and photos on each
location along with maps, a
discussion forum, weather, a
complete online phone directory,
and local news.
Carol Dintelman, the creator of
Papagayoinfo.net, first came to
Costa Rica in 2003 from Salt
Lake City, Utah for a vacation
at a secluded resort on the
Papagayo Peninsula. There she
met her future husband and she
returned to Costa Rica one month
later where she has now lived
for 4 years running a tour
company.
Before Carol returned to Costa
Rica she scoured the Internet
for information on the Papagayo
area; and virtually nothing was
found about how the specific
towns looked, what to expect,
where to live, and other vital
information.
The idea for Papagayoinfo.net
began there and has been brewing
ever since.
Early this year, Carol partnered
with Quickstart Media of Ottawa,
Canada, to design and program
the site. Papagayoinfo.net
includes free basic listings for
every local business putting
them under their specific
category in the phone directory
and on the area maps.
Participating businesses are
featured with photos or logos,
and are linked throughout the
site. Organizations and charity
events are featured for free on
Papagayoinfo.net.
The most valuable tool for
visitors on Papagayoinfo.net is
the discussion forum.
The open forum allows a visitor
to ask a specific question and
get responses from locals,
residents, or area experts.
Residents of the area will find
the phone directory complete and
easily navigable along with
calendar of events which groups
the month’s happenings all in
one place. Movie times for the
Liberia mall theater are also
included on Papagayoinfo.net
along with local news.
Papagayoinfo.net launched mid
June 2007. Local businesses can
list their company starting at
$25 per month, and events at $15
per month.
