Price of eggs go down

Due to an overproduction, the eggs will begin to go down in price in the next days.

Yesterday Nutrihuevo, the company that distributes the product to the supermarkets Mas X Menos, Palí, Maximercado and Hipermás, announced that the price of the kilo of eggs will be sold at 20% cheaper (near ¢100 less).

The price of this product is not regulated by law, so it varies according to the market.

Jose Gutiérrez, manager of Nutrihuevo, explained that the drop prices is due to "an excess in the supply of the national egg market, which benefits the consumer".

According to the Chamber of Commercial Egg Producers, in 2002 there were 2.4 million hens in egg production.
