U.S. Citizen charged with Pimping and Child Pornography

Police, this week, detained a 52 year old U.S. Citizen and a 23 year old Tico for allegedly pimping of minors and producing child pornography. The Costa Rican was released without charges.

The two men were detained by police in the North America's home, where computer equipment and pornographic photographs and a vehicle were also confiscated. The North American is identified as James Carl Kays, who is alleged to drive minors, ages 15-17, to downtown San José, where they would prostitute themselves.

The female victims, three Nicaraguans and two Costa Ricans, allegedly lived in Kays' home and is alleged to have handled the money the girls made. The young Costa Rican man was allegedly employed by Kane to translate as he reported not to be speak a word of Spanish.

A police source said that the U.S. suspect was very cooperative with the police, but pretended he did not know the girls were underage. Police reportedly found photos of Kays posing with the girls.

Kays is spending the next three months in preventive jail, as police continue the investigation.
