Higher fuel costs to come

• Just approved new increase

Although it was an increase was just approved, get ready for another two increases in the price of fuel in the coming weeks.

With the new approved rise Thursday by the Regulating Authority of the Services Public (Aresep), the super gasoline will go from ’228,60 to ’235,50; regular from ’218,90 to ’225,40 and diesel from ’159,60 to ’164,90. The new prices will be in effect next week, when they are published in the official newspaper La Gaceta.

These increases - called "extraordinary" - is due to the increase that has been experiencing the international price of petroleum and its derivatives by the crises in Iraq and Venezuela.

However, the price of hydrocarbons will rise again February 1, when the automatic adjustment is applied to the tax on fuels. The tax is automatically adjusted every three months based on the inflation rate. During the last trimester that indicator has gone up to around the 2.5 percent.
