The Summit's host, Nicaragua's President Ortega, said the Central American region needs to finance farming, ensure basic food supplies, and form a production and marketing alliance to promote local farm goods to confront the worldwide food crisis as a group. State Banks Up Dollar Exchange Rate; Private Banks Follow

Following the opening of business today, the Banco Nacional (BN) led the other banks with dollars to colones exchange rate, upping the buy and sell almost ˘5 colones,  placing the buy rate at ˘505 and sell at ˘511. The Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) followed suit setting the buy rate at ˘506 and sell at ˘513.
 

Former Security Minister Calls Costa Rica "Little Colombia"
Former ministro de Seguridad, Fernando Berrocal, yesterday showed his anger towards the Arias government and specifically the ministro de la Presidencia, Rodrigo Arias, while appearing before a Legislative commission investigating the links of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) in Costa Rica.

Government Announces Plan To Give ˘50.000 Monthly To Poor Families
