Travelling
to
and
from
San
José
and
Alajuela
will
be
complicated
to
say
the
least
with
the
TOTAL
CLOSURE
of
the
autopista
General
Cañas
between
La
Castella
and
Cariari.
The
closure
was
announced
by
the
Consejo
Nacional
de
Vialidad
(CONAVI)
Friday
afternoon,
this
to
allow
for
the
installation
of a
third
Bailey
bridge
adjacent
to
the
two
existing
Baileys.
CONAVI
officials
felt
that
the
sinking
problems
in
one
of
the
lanes
on
the
eastbound
lanes
that
forced
the
closure
on
Thursday
would
lead
to
another
possible
cave
in,
creating
a
risk
for
drivers.
The
Policía
de
Tránsito
recommends
alternate
routes
that
include
the
San
José
-
Caldera
(Ruta
27)
and
the
Río
Segundo
to
San
Joaquín
de
Heredia
and
the
Barreal
de
Heredia,
to
La
Castella
or
betterto
Jardines
del
Recuerdo,
to
the
Pozuelo
in
La
Uruca
to
San
José.
As
in
the
past,
the
patience
of
drivers
will
be
tested
over
the
next
few
days,
especially
Monday.
If
you
are
heading
to
the
airport
from
San
José
allow
at
least
an
hour
or
more
to
your
travel
time.
