The Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) - National Emergency Commission - reported that the evacuation is a precautionary measure and the vast majority agreed to go live with friends and relatives.

The CNE has 12 shelters in Golfito, Puntarenas, Poas, Santa Ana, San Ramon, Santa Cruz and Carrillo, housing 361 people.
