The
thrills
and
scares
of
the
traditional
"Toro
a la
Tica"
is
only
three
days
away,
when
at
noon
on
Sunday
the
Zapote
annual
fair
kicks
off.
The
Toros
(bulls)
will
make
their
first
appearance
a
3pm
on
Christmas
day
and
will
continue
until
January
3,
2012
as
part
of
the
ten
day
traditional
fair
in
San
José,
that
is
springboard
for
traditional
fairs
across
the
country
in
the
coming
months,
like
Palmares
and
Puntarenas.
If
your
live
in
Costa
Rica
and
have
never
been
or
are
visiting
over
the
Christmas
holiday,
this
is a
must
see
event!
Although
the
entrance
to
the
fair
grounds
is
free
to
one
and
all,
there
is a
cost
to
the
see
the
bulls
in
the
"redondel"
(bull
ring)
and
tickets
go
fast,
especially
for
the
evening
events
and
sold
out
for
the
last
couple
of
days.
The
cost
is
¢10.000
per
person
for
the
3pm
shows
and
¢12.500
for
the
9pm,
for
adults
and
children.
New
this
year
is a
mariachi
contest
during
each
event
before
the
bulls
come
out.
Organizers
promise
the
best
bulls
from
the
Ganadería
Chinchilla.
If
you
cannot
make
to
this
event,
local
television
stations
will
be
broadcasting
live
some
of
the
events,
then
there
are
news
clips
and
of
course
Facebook
and
YouTube
to
get
your
bulls
fix.
