Did you
know
that the
tolls of
the San
José -
Caldera
are the
highest
in Latin
America
and five
times,
on
average,
than the
tolls
paid on
Costa
Rica's
national
roads.

That is
the
conclusion
of a
study by
the
political
party,
the
Partido
Accesibilidad
Sin
Exclusión
(PASE),
as made
public
by
legislator,
Victor
Emilion
Granados,
who says
Costa
Ricans
suffer
from the
granting
of the
concession
to
Autopistas
del Sol.
According
to the
PASE,
the cost
for each
kilometre
charged
by
Autposistas
del Sol
on the
San José
-
Caldera
is ¢22.5
colones,
while
the
tolls
charged
by the
Consejo
de
Seguridad
Vial (Cosevi)
on the
Bernando
Soto (Naranjo)
is ¢3.68
colones
for each
kilometre,
¢5.32 on
the
Florencio
del
Castillo
(Cartago),
¢3.93
colones
on the
Braulio
Carrillo
(road to
Limón)
and ¢5.0
colones
on the
General
Cañas.
"Why
this
disproportionality?,
what are
the
added
benefits
or not
to
travel
on the
road to
the
Autopistas
del Sol
road?,
what is
the
difference
as far
as
infrastructure
is
concerned
versus
those
whose
toll
roads
administered
by the
Cosevi?
The
truth is
that we
are only
dealing
in terms
of the
length
of the
road,
but also
work in
number
of
lanes,
width of
the
road,
and will
continue
to
demonstrate
that
there is
a clear
disproportionality
in the
collection
of tolls
on the
Ciudad
Colón-Orotina
section",
said the
legislator.
The
legislator
said he
has
asked
the
Consejo
Nacional
de
Concesiones
(CNC),
from the
standpoint
of
technical
and
financial
support,
why it
is
unclear
that
Autopistas
toll
charges
are the
most
expensive
and more
exaggerated
in the
country.
Granados
also
questions,
"why are
the
Autopistas
tolls
higher
that
then
average
in Latin
America
as
compared
to
concession
roads in
Mexico,
Argentina
and
Chile,
which
are of
better
quality,
where
the
tolls
are less
than ¢5
colones,
about
the same
paid
here on
national
roads".
